IU East announces 2013 scholarship recipients

Monday, November 25th

Indiana University East has awarded $78,000 in donor-funded scholarships to incoming freshmen and returning students for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Stephanie Hays-Mussoni, director of Gift Development, said over 130 students received scholarships from donor-based scholarships.

IU East Red Wolves competing at nationals, road games this weekend

IU East’s Red Wolves are traveling across the Midwest and to the East Coast to compete in two national tournaments and regular season road games. The three teams will travel to Iowa, Kansas, Pennsylvania and New York.redwolflogo

IU East Honors Program Induction welcomes students to academic program

The Indiana University East Honors Program inducted 46 students during the annual Honors Induction and Pinning Ceremony held November 21 in the Hayes Hall Campus Library. The Honors HonorsProgram2013Program is an academic program that provides an intellectually enriched curriculum for highly-motivated students.

IU East’s School of Education receives accreditation from NCATE

Indiana University East’s School of Education received accreditation for seven years through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The undergraduate program received continuing accreditation.Marilyn-Watkins

Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Larry Richards said, “Accreditation of our professional degree programs is a sign of the quality upon which we insist, and that quality translates into successful graduates and communities. Our teacher education graduates are second to none.”

Chair of Mathematics Department participates on online education panel discussionMarkusPomper1
Markus Pomper, chair of the Department of Mathematics, was invited to be a panelist at a podium discussion at the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). The meeting was held on October 26 in Evansville, Ind. The panelists explored topics ranging from the challenges to teaching online classes in Mathematics, overcoming student problems, and instructional techniques.

Comprehensive review concludes, volleyball head coach resigns

Indiana University East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe announced that the results of a review of volleyball head coach Adam Stevenson ended with no findings of sexual harassment. However, Stevenson decided yesterday (November 5) to resign his position by mutual agreement.

Public meeting announcement for Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for IU East

Monday, November 4th

Indiana University Emergency Management and Continuity and The Polis Center will host a public information session regarding a multi-hazard mitigation plan for the IU East campus from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday (November 6) in the Whitewater Hall Community Room.
