IU East records significant increase in summer enrollment

June 9, 2008 |

Indiana University East has continued its positive trend in enrollment. The campus has recorded an increase of 11.5 percent in credit hours taught for its first of two summer sessions. The number of students enrolled in Summer I increased 8.1 percent compared to the same period last summer.

The credit hour and student headcount increases at IU East for this summer are the largest among all Indiana University campuses. IU East also had the largest credit growth of any IU campus during the past fall semester.

The trend reflects IU East’s new mission as a full-fledged bachelor’s and master’s degree institution and reflects the organizational changes made during the past year to enable the campus to more directly support this mission.

“We are well-positioned for continued growth,” said Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar. “More students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at IU East means more individuals who will be prepared to provide leadership for companies and communities throughout our region.”

IU East is continuing to register students for the Summer II session which begins June 30 and for the fall 2008 semester which begins August 25. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions at (765) 973-8208 or visit www.iue.edu/admissions.
