Indiana University East will offer two new degree programs at its off-campus sites in New Castle and Lawrenceburg.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration will be available to students at the Danielson Center in New Castle. The Bachelor of Science in Psychology will be offered at IU East Lawrenceburg located at Ivy Tech Community College Southeast.

The B.S. in Business Administration is offered by the School of Business and Economics. This program was developed at the request of the Henry County community and the IU East New Castle Advisory Committee. The degree provides all junior and senior level courses locally and fully articulates with associate degree programs provided by Ivy Tech Community College of Muncie and Richmond.

“We have always had a good working relationship with the New Castle and Henry County area,” said David Frantz, dean of the School of Business and Economics.  “We currently offer lower level business courses there, but this will now enable us to offer an opportunity for students to finish their degree entirely at the Danielson Center. This is yet another way we are strengthening our relationship with Ivy Tech.”

Students who complete the business administration degree will be prepared for a variety of professional careers in health care, manufacturing, insurance and financial service-related companies.

Frantz said a business lecturer will join the IU East faculty to coordinate and to teach courses at the Danielson Center as a result of adding the degree program.

“We welcome Cal Simpson, one of our new business faculty members this fall, who will be working with us and the community to build up the cohort program in New Castle,” Frantz said.

The B.S. in Psychology at the Lawrenceburg Center will provide all junior and senior level courses leading to the baccalaureate degree in psychology. The degree program, offered by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will fully articulate with associate degree programs provided by Ivy Tech Southeast and provide a local classroom-based opportunity for baccalaureate education for citizens of southeastern Indiana.

The B.S. in Psychology is developed at the request of and with the encouragement of the Dearborn County community and Ivy Tech Southeast to facilitate the completion of baccalaureate degrees for students in the southeastern region. The degree will be attractive to students who wish to have careers in social services, healthcare and the non-profit sector.

Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Katherine Frank said, “It is an exciting time as we continue to expand our program offerings in Lawrenceburg.  We appreciate the support of our Ivy Tech and Indiana University East colleagues in Lawrenceburg as well as the community-at-large for helping to launch this program and better meeting the needs of students in the area.”

IU East offers completion programs at Lawrenceburg, Madison, and New Castle in several subjects designed to provide a convenient classroom-based opportunity for students in the area.
