IU East continues summer enrollment increase during second session

July 19, 2012 |

The enrollment increase at Indiana University East has continued over the summer. The second summer session has increased 11.8 percent (888) in student headcount and 12.9 percent (3,711) in credit hours compared to this same time last year.

The second summer session began July 1 and ends August 13.

“The reduced tuition rates for courses this summer has, I think, had a positive impact on enrollment,” said Interim Chancellor Larry Richards. “We would like to see greater interest in summer courses as a way to accelerate time to graduation, and we encourage students to use the summer to stay on track with their studies. It seems to be working.”

During IU East’s first summer session (May 13 to June 24), enrollment increased 15.6 percent (7,049) in credit hours and 18.3 percent (1,354) in student headcount. IU East has experienced a continuous increase in enrollment since 2007.

IU East is continuing to register students for the upcoming fall semester which begins August 27.

Enrollment figures are not official until approved by the President of Indiana University.
