IU Business Outlook Panel visits Richmond November 5

October 24th, 2012

Area business leaders and the community are invited to attend the IU Business Outlook Panel from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, November 5, at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services in the Lingle Grand Hall, located at 1100 Reid Parkway in Richmond. The IU Business Outlook Forum is presented by the IU East Alumni Association and the IU East School of Business and Economics and is sponsored by Reid Hospital & Health Care Services.

The IU Business Outlook Panel, featuring Indiana University faculty experts in economics and finance, will provide national, state, and local economic forecasts for 2013 for business, political, and community leaders in eastern Indiana. The panel is known for its ability to identify key economic trends. For nearly 40 years, the Kelley School of Business has presented its forecasts through a series of presentations in cities throughout Indiana.

Among the questions they plan to address this year are: How will the financial markets fare in the coming months? When will employment finally grow steadily and quickly enough to put the unemployed back to work? Will slower growth in developing nations limit our own growth? How strong will economic growth be in the coming year — both for the state and the nation?

This year’s panel includes Kyle Anderson, assistant professor of economics at the IU Kelley School of Business; Robert Neal, associate professor of finance, Kelley School of Business; and Fred H. Schlegel, professor of entrepreneurship, strategy, international management, and strategic management of technology, Kelley School of Business.

Litao Zhong, assistant professor of finance and economics for the IU East School of Business and Economics, is the local panelist. David Frantz, dean of the IU East School of Business and Economics and associate professor of management, will moderate the discussion.

Reservations to attend the event are due by October 31. RSVP online at iuoutlook.eventbrite.com. The cost is $15 per person and includes lunch. Event proceeds benefit the IU East Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and will assist students in the School of Business and Economics.
