Twenty-first Century Scholars can now apply for first-time scholarship

February 14, 2008 |

Indiana University East has initiated a new scholarship for Twenty-first Century High School Scholars. Junior or senior high school students can apply for the $500 per year scholarship for use during the fall, spring or summer semesters.

The scholarship will provide an opportunity for academically motivated scholars to take a college course for transferable credit. By enrolling at IU East, the scholars will learn from knowledgeable faculty and build their college experience.

Applicants must be a Twenty-first Century Scholar in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must have sufficient credits to be on track for high school graduation within the four-year time period as indicated on their high school transcript; have a letter of recommendation from a teacher, high school guidance counselor or principal; have a clean record; and if a senior, provide evidence of beginning the college application and financial aid process.

Students are encouraged to apply six weeks prior to the registration date in which they wish to enroll.

Any students receiving the Twenty-first Century Scholarship in their junior year of high school, may also apply for the tuition award during their senior year.
