Indiana University East congratulates Danny Danielson on his 2010 induction to the Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Business Hall of Fame. Danielson received the honor February 19 in Indianapolis. The Hall of Fame honors prestigious business leaders who have made a lasting impression in their corporations and community.

An alumnus of Indiana University, Danielson has continued to serve the university and IU East. He is a member of the IU East Board of Advisors and is the longest serving member of the IU Board of Trustees (1959-1980).

Danielson was instrumental in the establishment of IU East’s Danielson Center in New Castle, Ind., which was made possible after a group of residents, now formed as the Danielson Education Council, Inc., saw the need for higher education housed within their community. Danny and Patty Danielson challenged the community to raise money to build the center and the campaign raised $1 million for construction of the center. The first courses were held in fall 1999.

“When it comes to character, dedication, and leadership, Danny is truly in a class by himself,” said IU East Chancellor Nasser Paydar. “Our state and our region are a better place because of the great work that he has done and continues to do on behalf of Indiana University.”

In 2009 Danielson received the Sachem Award, the highest honor the State of Indiana can bestow on one of its citizens.
