Campus Library hosting Edible Book Contest, murder mystery

March 31st, 2010

The Indiana University East Campus Library is hosting two events open to the public this April. The annual Edible Book Festival, a food competition, and Murder in the Stacks, a murder mystery, is open to the public for participation.

The Campus Library is inviting the public to submit entries for the Edible Book Festival. Join libraries and bookstores around the world in uniting books and culinary creativity with fun, edible representations of books. The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, in the Hayes Hall Atrium.

The IU East Campus Library’s Edible Book Festival is open to the public, and attendees will be able to taste and judge the edible creations. The Edible Book Festival is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.

New this year is a category for entries representing departments and student organizations. The winning edible book entries in both categories will receive a large basket of books to share among their department or organization.

Need ideas for your own masterpiece? An international gallery of past entries is available online.

Also, the Campus Library is selling tickets for the upcoming Murder in the Stacks mystery. The murder mystery will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, in the library, located in Hayes Hall.  This library murder mystery is hosted by the IU East Friends of the Library and the Drama and Humanities Clubs.

The cost is $20 and includes a three-course lunch with proceeds to benefit students traveling to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival this spring. Seating is exclusive for 40 guests and seats must be reserved.

The cast includes Dani Barker, Zack Bishop, Megan Brehm, Vicki Colley, Matt Dilworth, Timothy J. Emery, Ashley Gagliano, Tyler Groff, Emi Parks, Derek Summan and Traci Taylor.
