IU East hosts Earth Day Celebration

April 15, 2010 |

The Environmental Club at IU East is one of the sponsors of the Family Earth Day Celebration at IU East on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Whitewater Hall.

“Richmond and Wayne County are fortunate to have an annual event like this to learn about ways to live more sustainably. Everyone should come out and see the amazing products on display, have fun and learn new things,” said Peggy Branstrator, advisor for the Environmental Club and senior lecturer in biology and earth science.

The celebration includes over 60 booth displays and educational information from environmental organizations or individuals, a nocturnal animal show, Test Middle School’s drum ensemble, door prizes, free giveaways, and food.  Bring the family and enjoy games for kids and meet Richie the Recycling Raccoon.

The event will also have recycling for magazines, cardboard, cans, bottles, cell phones, eyeglasses, batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and toner cartridges. Electronics other than cell phones will not be accepted for recycling.

Roseview Transit is giving free rides to campus that day.
