Indiana University East will exhibit “A Place to Call Home: The Camps & Domiciles of Cincinnati’s Urban Homeless” in The Gallery from January 9 to February 17. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit during gallery hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Indiana University East announced the Top Eleven Award and Purchase Award recipients during the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition reception held October 26.
This year’s competition was juried by Katherine Sherwood, a professor at UC Berkeley in the art department and the Disability Studies Program. The competition accepts entries from artists throughout a 300-mile radius around Richmond.
Indiana University East will host an opening reception and awards presentation for the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition exhibit tonight (Wednesday, October 26) at 7 p.m. in Whitewater Hall.
The Top Ten award recipients will be announced at the reception. This year’s competition was juried by Katherine Sherwood, a professor at UC Berkeley in the art department and the Disability Studies Program.
Indiana University East is accepting art entries this week (September 26-30) for the 2011 Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition.
The competition will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, in Whitewater Hall. The top ten entries will receive a monetary award. Prior to the judging, there will be a juror presentation at 12:30 p.m. in Tom Raper Hall, room 124.
Indiana University East will hold a special tribute to Tom Thomas (1945-2009), late associate professor fine of fine arts, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, in Vivian Auditorium. The tribute will honor his immense impact on the campus and its students.
The upcoming exhibit at Indiana University East will feature a glimpse of India from four different photographers. “Glimpses of Unfamiliar India” will be on display January 25 to March 12 in The Gallery and Meijer Artway.
The exhibit features the photography of Satya Banga, Jon Hughes, Sean Hughes, and Philip Oechsli.

This year’s competition is juried by Corin Hewitt who holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and an M.F.A. from The Milton-Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. He also attended the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunste Karlsruhe in Germany and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.
The Indiana University East art gallery will display “A Metaphor For A Metaphor” by Ball State University faculty Scott Anderson, Hannah Barnes, and David Hannon. The exhibit will be on display in The Gallery, located in Whitewater Hall, from August 24 to September 18.
Indiana University East will feature a group of artists, the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, in the Meijer Artway. The exhibit, “From Women’s Hands the works of Plein Air Painters,” begins January 20 and continues through March 13.
