IU East Dean of Nursing Honored for Dedication to Service

Karen Clark, dean of the School of Nursing at Indiana University East, was recently recognized for her dedication to service on campus and within the community. Clark was one of this year’s Indiana University W. George Pinnell Award for Outstanding Service recipients. She received the award at the 2013 Celebration of Distinguished Teaching dinner on April 5. The dinner is one of the activities held as part of Founders Day, the annual celebration of IU’s founding in 1820.

IU East named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

Indiana University East has been named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll list is available online.

IUEAA seeks nominations for 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award

The Indiana University East Alumni Association invites members of the community and other interested individuals to submit nominations for the 2013 Indiana University East Distinguished Alumni Award.

The IU East Distinguished Alumni Award provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding Indiana University East alumni who have distinguished themselves through personal and professional accomplishments, community service, involvement with the University, and involvement with the Alumni Association.

Nursing students share Navajo stories learned while visiting Chinle
Senior nursing students will share stories they learned while in Chinle, Ariz., during “Voices of the Dine (Navajo)” on Monday, December 3. The storytelling event will be held at 4 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.

Volleyball program receives NAIA Champions of Character Team Award

Thursday, November 29th

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Indiana University East volleyball team was honored as the 2012-13 recipient of the NAIA’s Buffalo Funds Five Star Champions of Character Team Award for volleyball.

The team received the award during the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Banquet of Champions on Nov. 26 at the Sioux City Convention Center. The IU East Red Wolves volleyball team is competing in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship this week.

IU East Center for Development receives grant for the Academy for Cultivating Talent

Wednesday, March 7th

The Indiana University East Center for Leadership Development will receive a grant from the Indiana University Women’s Philanthropy Council to establish a new Academy for Cultivating Talent. The IU Women’s Philanthropy Council announced the award recipients on March 6.

IU East student receives national SIFE scholarship

Thursday, June 9th

Rick McKinney of Eaton, Ohio, received a Jules and Gwen Knapp Ambassador Scholarship from Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) USA. The national scholarship recognizes the leadership, teamwork and communication skills developed in SIFE students.

IU EAST men’s basketball earns National Champions of Character Award

The Red Wolves are the Champions of Character for NAIA Division II men’s basketball – again.

The Indiana University East men’s basketball team won the 2010-11 Buffalo Funds Five Star Champions of Character Award for NAIA Division II men’s basketball, the NAIA announced.

IU East faculty receive IU awards for teaching, outstanding service

Tuesday, April 19th

Two Indiana University East faculty members received Indiana University Distinguished Teaching Awards during Founders Day. Alisa Clapp-Itnyre, associate professor of English, received the Herman Frederic Lieber Memorial Teaching Award and Greg Braxton-Brown, professor of management and director of Southeast Indiana Programs, received the W. George Pinnell Award for Outstanding Service.
