IU East to offer yellow ribbon award for military veterans

Monday, June 29th

Indiana University East will offer the Veterans Administration’s Yellow Ribbon Program this fall to Post- 9/11 veterans. Fall 2009 is the first semester the new Post-9/11 GI Bill goes into effect.  IU East will provide up to 10 qualifying students a direct grant up to $1,500 per academic year under the program and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs will match the amount.

IU East announces Distinguished Alumni recipient

Thursday, April 30th

Keith N. Fargo is the recipient of the Indiana University East 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award. Fargo will receive the honorary award during the IU East commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15. The ceremony is being held at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center. He will lead the graduating class during the alumni induction ceremony.

IU East faculty, staff presented with service awards

Thursday, April 16th

Indiana University East presented several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held Thursday, April 16.

Chancellor Nasser Paydar and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Larry Richards presented select members of the IU East faculty with awards during the program.

English professor receives IU distinguished teaching award

Wednesday, April 1st

Edwina L. Helton, professor of English, at Indiana University East received the Frederick Bachman Lieber Memorial Award for distinguished teaching. The award was presented by Indiana University at the Founders Day ceremony held March 29 in Bloomington.

Lingle Scholar Award presented to two IU East freshman students

Monday, October 20th

Heather Wheatley of Hagerstown and Ryan Doughty of Richmond have been chosen as the 2008 Lingle Scholars. The Honors Program scholarship award will continue throughout their pursuit of a four-year degree at Indiana University East.

MLK Multicultural and Diversity Enhancement Award recipient announced

Mardi BergenMardi Bergen, Indiana University East communication and theatre senior lecturer, received the 2008 Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural and Diversity Enhancement Award Thursday, January 17. Bergen received the award during the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at IU East.

English professor receives residency to Yaddo, an exclusive artists’ community

Indiana University East assistant professor of English, Jean Harper, has received a springtime residency to Yaddo. The artists’ community is located in Saratoga Springs, New York and offers a sanctuary for creative and professional artists.
