Indiana University East has named four finalists in the search for a new chancellor. Finalists will visit the campus this month to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members.
Following those visits, the next step will be for the university search committee that identified the finalists to meet again and make further recommendations to President Michael A. McRobbie and Executive Vice President John Applegate. McRobbie will make the final selection, subject to approval by the IU Board of Trustees.

“S.E.L.L.O.U.T.” comedy to talk about issues in diversity

Nursing students share Navajo stories learned while visiting Chinle
Senior nursing students will share stories they learned while in Chinle, Ariz., during “Voices of the Dine (Navajo)” on Monday, December 3. The storytelling event will be held at 4 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.

Indiana University East welcomes community supporters to the Spirit of Philanthropy Luncheon to thank these individuals for their contributions to scholarships, internships, leadership experiences and community service opportunities for students. The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond. The event raises funds for scholarships and other community involvement experiences that provide important skill-building experiences for students.

Indiana University East and other community organizers are planning the second event in a yearlong writing series.
The next community writing marathon will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, and focus on writing about art and place across the Indiana University East, Ivy Tech Community College, and Reid Hospital & Health Care Services campuses.

Indiana University East and Morrisson-Reeves Public Library are proud to announce a storytelling series featuring award-winning actor, writer, and storyteller Jennie Kiffmeyer. Kiffmeyer will discuss the storytelling process and her one-woman show, Rivertown Dispatch, at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 24, in the Community Room, located in Whitewater Hall at IU East. Kiffmeyer will then perform Rivertown Dispatch at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, at the Morrisson-Reeves Public Library. Both events are free and open to the general public; no registration is required.

Indiana University East will present writer and educator Amada Irma Pérez during its Hispanic Heritage Month. Pérez will present “The Bilingual Voice of a Writer and Teacher,” on Monday, October 22, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., in Whitewater Hall Room 132. The event is sponsored by Mindful Explorations, courtesy of the William H. and Jean R. Reller Endowment.

Award-winning producer, acclaimed author and editor, and founder of the StoryCorps Project, Dave Isay, will speak at Indiana University East on Tuesday, October 16, as part of the “One Book, Many Voices” project. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 6 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.
