Harper is guest on radio show to discuss 1968 explosion following Indianapolis tragedy
Jean Harper, associate professor of English, was a guest on the “Afternoon Show” on WIBC 93.1 FM in Indianapolis. Harper talked about the 1968 Richmond explosion in relation to the gas explosion on the Southeast side of Indianapolis.

Registrar attends annual IACRAO meeting
Dennis Hicks, registrar, attended the 71st Annual Meeting of the Indiana Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (IACRAO), October 25-26, in Columbus, Ind. He presented the session, “FERPA: Educating Your Campus & Staying Compliant.”  Hicks was a contributing editor to the AACRAO 2010 FERPA Guide.

IU East is a first-choice college for Presidential Scholar

Tuesday, February 2nd

Victoria Hicks graduated from Randolph Southern High School last spring, a school best known for its decades-long domination at state academic super bowl competitions.

Hicks’ academic record puts her former school’s success into perspective. She finished fourth out of 43 students, despite amassing a 4.5 grade point average, a product of a weighted grading scale.

The Spring Faculty Lecture Series continues with Julien Simon, assistant professor of Spanish and French, and his presentation, “An Introduction to Cognitive Literary Studies.” The lecture is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3 in Whitewater Hall, room 132.

Music recitals bring holidays, Broadway to Vivian Auditorium
The public is invited to attend a duo recital on Thursday, December 4 featuring IU East students Danielle Phelps and Ryan Shaw. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
