IU East to welcome author Amada Irma Pérez as part of its Hispanic Heritage Month events

Indiana University East will present writer and educator Amada Irma Pérez during its Hispanic Heritage Month. Pérez will present “The Bilingual Voice of a Writer and Teacher,” on Monday, October 22, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., in  Whitewater Hall Room 132. The event is sponsored by Mindful Explorations, courtesy of the William H. and Jean R. Reller Endowment.

IU East welcomes community to attend first Interfaith Institute

Indiana University East is hosting its first Interfaith Institute from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20 in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.

The event is free and open to the public. Reservations may be made online at iue.edu/interfaith/institute-form.php.

IU East to impact community through participation in President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge

Indiana University East was selected to participate in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, an initiative inviting institutions of higher education to commit to interfaith cooperation and community service programming on campus. The initiative is to build understanding among diverse communities and contribute to the common good.

IU East plans events to celebrate Native American Heritage Month

The Office of Multicultural Affairs will host two events in recognition of Native American Heritage Month.

The events are free and open to the public.

Flutist Bud EagleWolf will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, in Vivian Auditorium. He has eight flutes that he uses in his performance. He will also talk about his music, his family, and his Native American heritage.

ADA conferences being held at IU East
IU East is one of seven state-wide sites to host all 12 sessions of the ADA Audio conference this year. The conferences will be held the third Tuesday of each month in Whitewater Hall, room 119. The November Audio Conference, “Everything You Need to Know about the Enforcement of the ADA but Were Afraid to Ask,” will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18.

MLK Jr. Celebration at IU East to be held January 17

William H. WigginsIndiana University East is hosting its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Thursday, January 17. The event will feature speaker William H. Wiggins Jr., professor emeritus of African American and African Diaspora Studies and Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University.
