As of the last day of registration on January 18, there were 4,016 students enrolled for the spring, exceeding last spring’s enrollment by 160 students. The increase represents a growth of 4.1 percent. Credit hours also reached a record level at 36,668, up 2.5 percent from last spring.
This is the seventh consecutive fall the campus has experienced historic enrollment growth. Since fall 2007, IU East’s headcount enrollment has doubled.
IU East has 413 freshmen enrolled for classes this fall, compared to 404 incoming freshman in fall 2013. The second highest incoming class enrolled 411 students.
This spring, Indiana University East is continuing to see enrollment increases over last spring across key areas including credit hours taken, new transfer students, transfers from Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond, new first-year students, and online courses enrollments. This represents the 18th consecutive term (including summers) with growth in campus credit hours over the previous year.
Indiana University East along with the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of a new parking lot, located behind Hayes Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony today (January 17). As part of the ceremony, IU East gave away #RedWolfNation ice scrapers to all in attendance.
A record-breaking 4,456 students are enrolled for classes this fall at Indiana University East, marking the university’s 17th consecutive term of enrollment growth. Since fall 2007, IU East’s headcount enrollment has grown 96.6 percent.
Increase marks 16th straight term of growth
Summer enrollment at Indiana University East has increased relative to the same time last year. IU East enrolled 1,749 students for summer 2013, an increase of 8 percent compared to a 1,620 headcount in summer 2012. Credit hours increased 2.6 percent from last summer. During the two summer sessions held this year, students completed 10,625 credit hours compared to 10,359 in 2012.
Indiana University East continues to increase its record enrollment in both the number of students enrolled on campus and the number enrolled through its online degree completion programs. Compared to spring 2012, IU East has increased its enrollment by 15.7 percent (3,872 headcount). Students will take 6.3 percent more credit hours this spring semester compared to spring 2012, a total of 35,400 credit hours.
