The enrollment increase at Indiana University East has continued over the summer. The second summer session has increased 11.8 percent (888) in student headcount and 12.9 percent (3,711) in credit hours compared to this same time last year.

Summer enrollment at Indiana University East has increased relative to the same time last year. The first summer session, which began May 13, has increased in both credit hours and the number of students taking summer courses.

Compared to this same time last year, IU East student enrollment (3,348) increased 12.5 percent in headcount and 12.4 percent in credit hours (33,298.5). Both figures are historic highs for spring semester enrollment at IU East. The headcount enrollment is an increase of 373 additional students compared to the same time last year.
Indiana University East’s continued growth has resulted in another semester of record-breaking enrollment. Student enrollment (3,725) has increased by 10.7 percent this fall semester, while student credit hours (36,590.5) increased 9.5 percent over last fall. Both figures are new record highs for the campus, breaking marks set last fall.
Indiana University East will be open on Saturday, August 27, to help students enroll or register for classes for the fall semester.
“Saturday is a great time for students to access campus services before classes begin on Monday. Advisors will be working to help new and continuing students develop or adjust schedules for the fall semester,” Dean of Students Mary Blakefield said. “This is also an opportune time for students to meet with staff in financial aid, student accounts and other areas to tie up any loose ends before the semester begins.”
Indiana University East experienced a continued increase in its enrollment during its first summer session.
During the first summer session, the number of students enrolled increased by 11.6 percent compared to last year, and credit hour enrollment increased by 11.8 percent.
IU East had the largest increase in student headcount enrollment among all Indiana University campuses. Enrollment for spring 2011 was 2,975 students, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the same period last year. Students are taking 29,614.5 credit hours, up 5.8 percent from last spring.
Richmond businessman Kirit Patel has donated a building to Indiana University East. The 9,040-square-foot office building is located on Richmond’s east side at 423 and 425 Commerce Road. The gift of property has an appraised value of $498,800.
