Indiana University East is hosting its first Interfaith Institute from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20 in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.

Indiana University East will host duo multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Four Shillings Short. They will perform “Around the World in 30 Instruments” from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall. This event is sponsored by Mindful Explorations, courtesy of the William H. and Jean R. Reller Endowment.

Governor Daniels praises the campus’ innovative leadership
Indiana University East has shared four decades of its history with the campus and community during its 40th Anniversary celebration. The campus kicked off the anniversary during its 40th Commencement Ceremony in May and has hosted celebration events throughout the fall semester.

Indiana University East will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, in the Whitewater Hall Lobby. The event will feature speaker Phyllis Boanes, professor of history and past director of the African and African American Studies Program at Earlham College.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs will host two events in recognition of Native American Heritage Month.
The events are free and open to the public.
Flutist Bud EagleWolf will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, in Vivian Auditorium. He has eight flutes that he uses in his performance. He will also talk about his music, his family, and his Native American heritage.

IU East will host two musicians for several events on Friday, November 13, including a world-premiere performance of a new work by Elliot Miles McKinley, assistant professor of music and informatics director of music studies, for violin and marimba. Featured musicians are Andrew Martin, musicologist and percussionist, and Minnesota violinist Ginna Watson.

This year’s theme, “I Gotta Feeling,” is based on the popular song by the Black Eyed Peas.
