ndiana University East recently received international recognition from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). IU East received a Circle of Excellence Bronze Award in the category of Excellence in Design – Specialty Pieces for its Run with the Wolves Bus Wrap.

Tim Scales has been awarded the 2010 Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs Teaching Excellence Award for Region 4. He is the director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and lecturer of business administration at Indiana University East.

Indiana University East recognized several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held April 15.

Mathematics Professor Publishes New Theory in Paper
A new mathematical theory titled, “Slant Antieigenvalue Theory” developed by Mort Seddighin, IU East professor of mathematics, and professor Karl Gustafson of the University of Colorado-Boulder, was presented in a lengthy paper accepted for publication in the Journal of Linear Algebra and Applications. LAA is one of the top referred international journals in mathematics published by Elsevier.

Indiana University East has received four awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V for excellence in fundraising, communications and marketing, and special events.
IU East’s Office of External Affairs received three gold awards (Best Practices in Fundraising and Development, Best Event on a Shoestring, and Excellence in Print Advertising) and a silver award (Best Radio PSA or Commercial Spot) in the annual Pride of Case V Awards Program.

The Indiana University East School of Nursing will honor five recipients with excellence awards during the nursing gala. The ‘09 Celebration of Caring gala will be held on Saturday, July 25 from 7-9:30 p.m. on the IU East Hayes Hall patio.

Jewell Spears will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Nursing Award. This award honors a nurse with a distinguished career as a registered nurse and exemplary contributions to health and wellness. Spears is a graduate of Richmond High School, the Reid Memorial Hospital and the Earlham College nursing program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1957 from Earlham College.
