IU East’s upcoming exhibit features work of IU graduate students
Tuesday, April 9thIndiana University East’s next art exhibit will feature the work of six Indiana University graduate students. “Brickhouse” will be on display April 8 to May 31.
The graduate students are currently each pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts at Indiana University in Bloomington. While the use of clay is a unifying element in this exhibition, each artist uniquely explores the diversity and exploration possible in the medium of ceramic.

IU East welcomes Indiana Artisan, Rose Embroidery Guild for art exhibits
Friday, January 25thIndiana University East and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences are
hosting exhibits by the Indiana Artisan and Rose Embroidery Guild now through March 29, 2013.
The Indiana Artisan’s exhibit, “Indiana Artisan: Paintings and Drawings,” is on display in The Gallery, located in Whitewater Hall.

IU East’s Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition accepts entries beginning October 1
Thursday, September 27thIndiana University East is accepting art entries October1-5 for the 2012 Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition. The competition will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, in Whitewater Hall. Prior to the judging, there will be a juror presentation at 11:30 a.m. in Tom Raper Hall, room 124.

Friday, January 6thIndiana University East will exhibit “A Place to Call Home: The Camps & Domiciles of Cincinnati’s Urban Homeless” in The Gallery from January 9 to February 17. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit during gallery hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

IU East announces accepted entries to the WVAAC exhibit
Wednesday, October 26thIndiana University East will host an opening reception and awards presentation for the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition exhibit tonight (Wednesday, October 26) at 7 p.m. in Whitewater Hall.
The Top Ten award recipients will be announced at the reception. This year’s competition was juried by Katherine Sherwood, a professor at UC Berkeley in the art department and the Disability Studies Program.

IU East Campus Library hosts exhibit Voice of Liberty, Voice of Conscience
Friday, September 9thThe Campus Library exhibition the “Emma Lazarus: Voice of Liberty, Voice of Conscience” will be on display through October 14. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The exhibit hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Monday, August 9thNSM faculty collaborate to publish findings for use of phylogenic species identification
School of Natural Science and Mathematics faculty members Markus Pomper, Dale Beach and Mike Foos (emeritus); IU East B.S. in Biology graduate and former laboratory coordinator, Nickie May; and co-authors Don Ruch, from Ball State University, and Kathy Sheehan, from the University of Colorado, received notification that their paper, “Phylogeny of Pilobolaceae,” has been accepted for publication and will appear in an upcoming issue of Mycologia. This paper re-describes a family of fungi and proposes the use of phylogenic species identification to distinguish among isolates of the genus Pilobolus more accurately. This publication represents the culmination of a multi-year collaboration utilizing the laboratory facilities at IU East.
