An author book signing and sale featuring Assistant Professor of History Daron Olson and Associate Professor of World Languages and Cultures Julian Simon will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, in the Community Room. The event is sponsored by the History and Political Science Club.

IU East’s “Let’s Talk” series to focus on overall wellness of the body, mind and spirit

The Indiana University East School of Humanities and Social Sciences will host the “Let’s Talk” series to discuss current topics and concerns. “Let’s Talk” is an interactive forum for students, faculty, and members of the community to discuss current topics and concerns, free of charge.

IU East’s Center for Teaching and Learning to offer certificate in online teaching for college faculty, graduate students

Tuesday, December 11th

Indiana University East’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will offer a Certificate in Online Teaching, the first session to begin January 7, 2013.

Trudi Weyermann, dean of Distance Education and associate vice chancellor for Teaching and Learning, said the certificate is the next logical step for IU East because the university currently offers nine online degree completion programs with over 400 online courses, about 150 taught every semester.

Nursing students share Navajo stories learned while visiting Chinle
Senior nursing students will share stories they learned while in Chinle, Ariz., during “Voices of the Dine (Navajo)” on Monday, December 3. The storytelling event will be held at 4 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.

Harper is guest on radio show to discuss 1968 explosion following Indianapolis tragedy
Jean Harper, associate professor of English, was a guest on the “Afternoon Show” on WIBC 93.1 FM in Indianapolis. Harper talked about the 1968 Richmond explosion in relation to the gas explosion on the Southeast side of Indianapolis.

IU East presents awards to faculty and staff, Wayne County Foundation for their contributions

Monday, November 19th

Indiana University East presented two awards, one to IU East faculty and staff and one to the Wayne County Foundation, for their generous support of the campus and its students during the annual Spirit of Philanthropy Luncheon held October 17 at Forest Hills Country Club. Vice Chancellor for External Affairs Rob Zinkan presented the awards.

IU East welcomes new faculty to the School of Nursing

Wednesday, November 14th

Indiana University East is pleased to welcome its newest faculty in the School of Nursing to further enhance the campus’ mission as a comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s degree institution. Two new faculty began at the start of the fall 2012 semester.

Gloria Dixon, lecturer of nursing, received her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Associate of Science in Nursing from IU East.

IU East welcomes new faculty to the School of Natural Science and Mathematics

Tuesday, November 13th

Indiana University East is pleased to welcome its newest faculty in the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Two new faculty began at the start of the fall 2012 semester.

Yu Kay Law, assistant professor of chemistry, received his Doctorate in Biophysics from Ohio State University where he was also a Graduate Fellow. He earned his Master of Arts and Master of Science in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Indiana University East is pleased to welcome its newest faculty in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences to further enhance the campus’ mission as a comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s degree institution. Six new faculty joined the school at the start of the fall 2012 semester.
