Faculty and staff excellence awards presented at Honors Convocation

Friday, May 3rd

Indiana University East recognized several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held April 25.

Ange Cooksey, senior lecturer in humanities, is this year’s recipient of the Helen Lees Award, established in 1991. Professor Emeritus Lees passed away in 1992, but her spirit continues in this annual award to honor a full-time faculty member who has taught at least 10 semesters at IU East.

Honors Convocation celebrates academic excellence

Indiana University East celebrated the accomplishments of its students during the annual Honors Convocation held April 25.

Chancellor’s Scholar Awards are campus-wide awards, presented to the highest achieving seniors, by academic school. Chancellor’s awards were presented to:

William Theising, Sunman, Ind., School of Education
Hillary Padgett,  Rushville, Ind., School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Ryan Doughty, Richmond, Ind., School of Natural Science and Mathematics
Sherry West, New Point, Ind., School of Nursing
Whitney Wesley, Gaston, Ind., School of Social Work

IU East welcomes largest class of Honors Program inductees

Monday, November 19th

The Indiana University East Honors Program inducted 66 students, its largest group to date, during the annual Honors Induction and Pinning Ceremony held November 15 in Vivian Auditorium. The Honors Program is an academic program that provides an intellectually enriched curriculum for highly-motivated students.

IU East announces 2012 Lingle Scholars

Tuesday, September 11th

Danielle Peckinpaugh and Tyler Johnson have been chosen as the 2012 Lingle Scholars. The scholarship award will continue throughout their pursuit of a four-year degree at Indiana University East.

Both graduated in June 2012 and are freshmen at IU East this fall. Peckinpaugh is a graduate of Lincoln High School and Johnson is a graduate of Northeastern High School.

IU East Honors Convocation celebrates student excellence in academics

Thursday, April 28th

Indiana University East celebrated the accomplishments of its students during the annual Honors Convocation held April 28. Chancellor Nasser Paydar presided over the convocation.

“The Honors Convocation celebrates student excellence in academics. These students are outstanding individuals who have demonstrated their comittment to academics and hard work,” Paydar said.

IU East awards students during Honors Convocation

Thursday, April 15th

Indiana University East celebrated the accomplishments of its students during the annual Honors Convocation held April 15. Chancellor Nasser Paydar presided over the convocation.

“The Honors Convocation is a celebration of excellence.  The academic accomplishments of these outstanding students demonstrate their singular commitment to intellectual exploration and hard work,” Paydar said.  “It is certain that they will carry their academic achievements and ambition into the future and to everything that they pursue.”
