IU East’s Honors Program celebrates 10th anniversary

This spring, the Indiana University East Honors Program is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The first Honors introductory course, H100, was taught in spring 2005 with 15 students.HonorsAnniversary

The Honors Program is an academic program that provides an intellectually enriched curriculum for highly motivated students, allowing them to demonstrate academic excellence through Honors coursework, independent research, creative work, and extracurricular opportunities. Members of the Honors Program are on-campus undergraduate students from all different majors and degrees.  In addition to taking Honors options in five of their courses, they complete a senior thesis of research, service-learning, or creative work.

Faculty and staff excellence awards presented at Honors Convocation

Indiana University East recognized several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held April 25.

Ange Cooksey, senior lecturer in humanities, is this year’s recipient of the Helen Lees Award, established in 1991. Professor Emeritus Lees passed away in 1992, but her spirit continues in this annual award to honor a full-time faculty member who has taught at least 10 semesters at IU East.

Honors Convocation celebrates academic excellence

Indiana University East celebrated the accomplishments of its students during the annual Honors Convocation held April 25.

Chancellor’s Scholar Awards are campus-wide awards, presented to the highest achieving seniors, by academic school. Chancellor’s awards were presented to:

IU East welcomes largest class of Honors Program inductees

The Indiana University East Honors Program inducted 66 students, its largest group to date, during the annual Honors Induction and Pinning Ceremony held November 15 in Vivian Auditorium. The Honors Program is an academic program that provides an intellectually enriched curriculum for highly-motivated students.
