Jackie Carberry is the recipient of this year’s 2015 ATHENA Leadership Award for Wayne County. Carberry, of Centerville, Ind., was presented the award during the ATHENA celebration dinner held June 23 at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond. The event recognizes women leaders who motivate, inspire and create positive change in the community.

IU East’s Student Activities and Events Center Groundbreaking Ceremony celebrates campus’ fifth building

Indiana University and Indiana University East today broke ground on the campus’ fifth building, a Student Activities and Events Center that is expected for completion in 2016.

The Students Activities and Events Center Groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by the IU Board of Trustees, IU President Michael McRobbie and IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe. Also during the ceremony, remarks were provided by Angela Dickman, chair of the IU East Board of Advisors, and IU East Student Government Association President Emily O’Brien. Dickman was joined at the podium by Felicia Quigg, both served as co-chairs of the Bold Aspirations Campaign Committee along with Bill Quigg and Daniel Dickman.

IU East, IU EMC to conduct active shooter training exercise

IU East, IU EMC to conduct active shooter training exercise

Indiana University East and Indiana University Office of Emergency Management and Continuity will conduct an active shooter training exercise on Friday, July 18, on the Richmond campus.

The full-scale training exercise will include participation from Richmond Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Richmond Fire Department, Wayne County Emergency Management and Reid Hospital & Health Care Services. There will be over 60 volunteers including the agencies, students, faculty and staff conducting the planned scenario throughout the day.

WTA Dubai winners share IU East ties

Red Wolves ruled the desert at the Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) Dubai destination.WTARedWolves

Indiana University East online students swept the women’s singles and doubles championships at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in late February. Venus Williams won the singles title at the WTA Dubai event. Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova won the doubles championship. Williams, Kudryavtseva and Rodionova all are enrolled in baccalaureate online degree completion programs at IU East.

Indiana University East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe announced that the results of a review of volleyball head coach Adam Stevenson ended with no findings of sexual harassment. However, Stevenson decided yesterday (November 5) to resign his position by mutual agreement.

Search committee for IU East chancellor appointed

Search committee for IU East chancellor appointed

A search and screen committee has been formed to identify finalists for the position of chancellor of Indiana University East, IU President Michael A. McRobbie has announced.

The committee, which will begin meeting in September, will initiate a national search for a replacement for former IU East Chancellor Nasser Paydar, who led the campus from 2007 to 2012 and accepted the position of executive vice chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Laurence Richards, IU East executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and professor of informatics and management, has served as interim chancellor since June 15.
