IU East celebrates Spirit of Philanthropy

Indiana University East welcomes community supporters to the Spirit of Philanthropy Luncheon to thank these individuals for their contributions to scholarships, internships, leadership experiences and community service opportunities for students. IU East’s “One Book, Many Voices” event to feature award-winning children’s book author, illustrator for Hispanic Heritage Month

Tuesday, October 8th

Duncan Tonatiuh, a children’s book author and artist, will visit Indiana University East as part of Hispanic Heritage Month and the “One Book, Many Voices” project on Tuesday, October 15, from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Whitewater Hall Community Room. IU East’s “One Book, Many Voices” project speakers to discuss international water issues, making a difference

As part of Indiana University East’s second annual “One Book, Many Voices” project, two speakers will visit campus to discuss water abroad and making a difference in the world through water. The lectures are free and open to the public.

IU East announces Wine to Water as this year’s book for “One Book, Many Voices” project

Indiana University East will celebrate the second year of the “One Book, Many Voices” project when classes begin in August 2013. The project mission is to foster a campus and community discussion about themes and ideas inspired by a common text in an effort to develop camaraderie, inform knowledge, and inspire action towards positive civic engagement and improvement.DocHendley

Community Art Piece by India Cruse-Griffin to be unveiled during BOOST event

Tuesday, January 29th

An original art piece by India Cruse-Griffin will be unveiled during the Positive Place Initiative’s upcoming event, BOOST (Building On Our Strengths Together), on Thursday, January 31, at noon in Lingle Hall, Reid Hospital & Health Care Services. The artwork grew out of the county’s Positive Place Initiative and IU East’s “One Book, Many Voices” project.

Indiana University East welcomes community supporters to the Spirit of Philanthropy Luncheon to thank these individuals for their contributions to scholarships, internships, leadership experiences and community service opportunities for students. The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond. The event raises funds for scholarships and other community involvement experiences that provide important skill-building experiences for students.

IU East and Morrisson-Reeves Public Library collaborate for “One Book, Many Voices” Storytelling Series

Monday, September 17th

Indiana University East and Morrisson-Reeves Public Library are proud to announce a storytelling series featuring award-winning actor, writer, and storyteller Jennie Kiffmeyer. Kiffmeyer will discuss the storytelling process and her one-woman show, Rivertown Dispatch, at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 24, in the Community Room, located in Whitewater Hall at IU East. Kiffmeyer will then perform Rivertown Dispatch at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, at the Morrisson-Reeves Public Library. Both events are free and open to the general public; no registration is required.

Free tickets now available for author visit Dave Isay on October 16

Wednesday, September 5th

Award-winning producer, acclaimed author and editor, and founder of the StoryCorps Project, Dave Isay, will speak at Indiana University East on Tuesday, October 16, as part of the “One Book, Many Voices” project.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 6 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.
