IU East’s Class of 2014 by the numbers

The Class of 2014 will receive 621 diplomas during Indiana University East’s 43rd Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16, at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.

Of the degrees being conferred, 560 are bachelor’s degrees and 61 master’s degrees. The awarding of the degrees this year marks the most awarded in IU East’s history.CommencementCelebration

IU East to offer Graduate Certificate in Mathematics online

Indiana University East has received final approval for a new online Graduate Certificate in Mathematics program from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. The certificate program will begin fall 2014.

“The Graduate Certificate is an exciting new program for Indiana University East,” said Markus Pomper, chair of the Department of Mathematics. “It allows students who have a graduate degree in education or some other discipline to earn sufficient graduate credits in mathematics to meet the qualifications for teaching at the community college level.”

Where technology meets tradition, continuing record enrollments at IU East reflect shifting patterns of education

Indiana University East continues to increase its record enrollment in both the number of students enrolled on campus and the number enrolled through its online degree completion programs. Compared to spring 2012, IU East has increased its enrollment by 15.7 percent (3,872 headcount). Students will take 6.3 percent more credit hours this spring semester compared to spring 2012, a total of 35,400 credit hours.
