KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Indiana University East is one of 168 colleges and universities that will be recognized with an NAIA Champions of Character Five Star Award for the 2013-14 school year, the NAIA announced this fall.
Indiana University East will host “Homecoming 2014: This is How We Do It” November 10-15. Alumni, friends and the campus community are invited to participate in the activities and events throughout the week. Homecoming events are sponsored by the Alumni Association, Office of Campus Life, Student Activities Advisory Team, Student Government Association, and Students Today Alumni Tomorrow.
IU East’s Red Wolves are traveling across the Midwest and to the East Coast to compete in two national tournaments and regular season road games. The three teams will travel to Iowa, Kansas, Pennsylvania and New York.
Indiana University East is planning several events in Richmond’s Historic Depot District during its 2013 Homecoming week, October 21-26.
“Everyone is really looking forward to all the great Homecoming events and activities on and off campus,” said Director of Gift Development Stephanie Hays-Mussoni. “The events in the Depot will be a great way to include the community in IU East Homecoming traditions. Students, faculty and staff are also excited to spend more time in the Depot District which is quickly becoming a regular gathering place for IU East students. The Depot merchants have been tremendous partners in all of these activities and we look forward to many more opportunities to bring community and campus together.”
Indiana University East is nearly to its goal of raising $1.7 million philanthropically for the $4.7 million Student Events Center, a multi-purpose addition to Springwood Hall. IU East has committed $3 million to the project from savings and efficiencies created over the past few years.
The Indiana University East Faculty Senate during its Feb. 5 meeting approved a resolution to add a women’s basketball program.
From surpassing a milestone enrollment of over 4,000 students to offering two new master degree programs, Academic-All American student-athletes and conference championships, and ranking as one of the nation’s most connected universities, Indiana University East has had a memorable 2012. The team received the award during the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Banquet of Champions on Nov. 26 at the Sioux City Convention Center. The IU East Red Wolves volleyball team is competing in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship this week.
Indiana University East will celebrate the start of the fall semester with new and returning students during the annual Back with the Pack August 28-30. The three-day event is sponsored by the Office of Campus Life. Fall semester classes start today (Monday, August 27).
The Red Wolves’ shooting stars are All-Americans.
Indiana University East junior gaurd Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) is a first-team NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American, and sophomore guard Matt Trimnell (Seymour, Ind./Seymour High School) is an honorable mention All-American.
