IU East’s 2014 Homecoming begins November 10

Indiana University East will host “Homecoming 2014: This is How We Do It” November 10-15. Alumni, friends and the campus community are invited to participate in the activities and events throughout the week. IU East to establish downtown Richmond art gallery

Indiana University East will take possession of 912 E. Main, located in downtown Richmond, on July 1, 2013. The space will house an art gallery, individual studios for faculty and students, and a classroom. It is slated to open to the public late fall semester 2013.KatherineFrank

IU East and Richmond High School to partner for summer program to market the community

The Indiana University East Center for Entrepreneurship and Richmond Community Schools will partner together this summer to offer high school students a two-week program that will help to market the community. The Center for Entrepreneurship is a part of the IU East School of Business and Economics.

SIFE team kicks off “Who Are YOUtube” video contest with Richmond business owners

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at Indiana University East recently received a Sam’s Club Step Up for Small Business grant that will help students work with businesses in the Richmond Depot District and Center City Development Corporation to produce YouTube videos. The team was one of 50 recipients nationwide for the $1,500 Sam’s Club award.

IU East to host book signing for former Richmond resident

Indiana University East will host a book signing for former Richmond resident Peg Goldberg Longstreth from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, April 20 in The Gallery, located in Whitewater Hall.

Chancellor Emeritus David Fulton said, “I was very pleased when Peg told me that she was planning a visit to Indiana and that IU East would host her for a book signing on campus. She is a remarkably talented artist and wonderful representative of both Richmond and Indiana in her adopted State. Her late husband, Joe Longstreth, an equally talented artist, was a major figure in the cultural life of Richmond for many years. They maintained a close working relationship with IU East art faculty and students once they set up shop in Naples.  I hope that many local people will come out to say hello to Peg and pick up a copy of her newest work.  It is sure to be a delight.”

A musical weekend

Monday, April 13th

IU East will sponsor two musical events this weekend on campus and in the Richmond community.

IU East guitar instructor, David Taulbee, will have a faculty recital at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17. This event is free and open to the public.

Moving On program for area youth begins Sunday at IU East

Indiana University East’s annual Moving On program for area youth will be held from Sunday, July 27 to Friday, August 8. Moving On is in its 18th year of providing a two-week summer academic and personal enrichment camp for Richmond youth.

Local potters, Richmond Art Club featured artists for upcoming exhibits at IU East

Wednesday, May 21st

Indiana University East will feature two local potters, Nate Wilson and David Nagy, in The Gallery. “David Nagy / Nate Wilson: Excellence in Clay” begins May 19 and continues through June 27. Members of the Richmond Art Club will have paintings and pottery on display in the Meijer Artway from May 26 to July 3.

1:47 documentary to premiere at IU East

Friday, March 21st

Indiana University East will host the premiere of the documentary film, 1:47, on Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium. The black tie optional event will start with a reception at 6:30 p.m. in Whitewater Lobby.  Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by contacting the IU East Office of External Affairs at (765) 973-8419.
