Harper is guest on radio show to discuss 1968 explosion following Indianapolis tragedy
Jean Harper, associate professor of English, was a guest on the “Afternoon Show” on WIBC 93.1 FM in Indianapolis. Harper talked about the 1968 Richmond explosion in relation to the gas explosion on the Southeast side of Indianapolis.

External Affairs directors presented at Blog Indiana, eduWeb

Rob Zinkan, vice chancellor for External Affairs, and John Oak Dalton, director of Communications and Marketing, presented “Social Web Integration: Are You “All In?”” at the annual Blog Indiana social media conference held August 20-21 in Indianapolis. The presentation shared IU East’s innovative approach to integrating social media into its overall marketing mix.

Rob Zinkan, executive director for External Affairs, has been promoted to vice chancellor for External Affairs.

Zinkan will continue to oversee all aspects of IU East’s external affairs, including the offices of communications and marketing, gift development, alumni relations and campus events, and campus life.

Indiana University East received eduStyle’s People’s Choice Award for Best Integration of Social/Networking. eduStyle awards the best in higher education website design and development.

IU East updated its homepage in fall 2009 to prominently feature social networking sites including YouTube videos, campus photos through Flickr, Twitter updates and student blogs. IU East uses the format to encourage visitors to www.iue.edu to connect to the university.

Indiana University East recently received international recognition from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). IU East received a Circle of Excellence Bronze Award in the category of Excellence in Design – Specialty Pieces for its Run with the Wolves Bus Wrap.

Indiana University East received several ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation, East Central Indiana Chapter during the annual dinner held Feb. 27 at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.

American Advertising Federation is the oldest national advertising trade association, representing 40,000 professionals in the advertising industry. According to the American Advertising Federation, the organization protects and promotes the well-being of advertising through a unique, nationally coordinated grassroots network of advertisers, agencies, media companies, local advertising clubs and college chapters.

Indiana University East has received several awards from the 25th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report. The national competition recognizes the fields of admissions marketing and advertising.

Indiana University East Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar has appointed Rob Zinkan to fill a newly created position as the executive director for External Affairs and Marketing. Zinkan joined the Richmond campus October 1.
