Indiana University East has been named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll list is available online.

Indiana University East Bachelor of Science in Nursing students traveled to Washington, D.C., to provide care and educational programming for low income residents. The group of 20 senior community nursing students left October 9 and returned October 15. Curtis Bow, lecturer in nursing, and Paula Baumann, assistant professor of nursing accompanied the students.

The City of Richmond, Indiana University East and Fountain City Wesleyan Church are sponsoring a day of observance and community service for the 10th anniversary of September 11.
The public is invited to join together as a community for the 10-year Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, at Veterans Park in Richmond, Ind. The community, veterans, service men and women, emergency and medical personnel, and their families are invited to this special event.

Five students from Indiana University East will be able to participate in the Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) Service Engagement AmeriCorps program during the upcoming 2011-2012 year. The program engages 150 Indiana college student volunteers in AmeriCorps service each year.

Bear Creek Coffee has established itself as the campus coffeehouse at Indiana University East. Since officially opening its campus location in the fall, in the Graf Center of Springwood Hall, the lounge has been a central gathering space for students to study and play and faculty and staff to meet.
