Indiana University East shared its community-focused projects in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge Inaugural Report published by the U.S. Department of Education. The report highlights participating institutions’ activities as part of President Barack Obama’s national initiative that began in 2011 with the goal of providing or expanding opportunities for students to participate in community service with a component of interfaith engagement.InterfaithChallenge

IU East named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

Indiana University East has been named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll list is available online.

IU East to award honorary degree to Paul Lingle

Indiana University East will award an Indiana University honorary degree to Paul W. Lingle during its Commencement Ceremony next month.  The honorary degree will recognize Lingle’s exceptional leadership and service to the campus and greater community.

IU East senior nursing students in Washington, D.C., to provide care, educational programming

Indiana University East Bachelor of Science in Nursing students traveled to Washington, D.C., to provide care and educational programming for low income residents. The group of 20 senior community nursing students left October 9 and returned October 15. Sept. 11 Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony invites the public for a day of observance, community service

The City of Richmond, Indiana University East and Fountain City Wesleyan Church are sponsoring a day of observance and community service for the 10th anniversary of September 11.

The public is invited to join together as a community for the 10-year Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, at Veterans Park in Richmond, Ind.  The community, veterans, service men and women, emergency and medical personnel, and their families are invited to this special event.

IU East to participate in ICC AmeriCorps program

Wednesday, July 20th

Five students from Indiana University East will be able to participate in the Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) Service Engagement AmeriCorps program during the upcoming 2011-2012 year. The program engages 150 Indiana college student volunteers in AmeriCorps service each year.

IU East faculty, staff presented with service awards

Indiana University East presented several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held Thursday, April 16.

Chancellor Nasser Paydar and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Larry Richards presented select members of the IU East faculty with awards during the program.

IU East makes President’s Honor Roll for third straight year
