As of the last day of registration on January 18, there were 4,016 students enrolled for the spring, exceeding last spring’s enrollment by 160 students. The increase represents a growth of 4.1 percent. Credit hours also reached a record level at 36,668, up 2.5 percent from last spring.

IU East students to perform with Choral Concert, Student Recital
Richmond, Ind. — The public is invited to attend the annual Indiana University East Chorale Concert at 7 p.m. on Monday December 8, at Central United Methodist Church, located at 1425 E. Main Street.
Indiana University East students are preparing to leave for the Dominican Republic this week to construct and distribute ceramic water filters for families in need of clean drinking water. Eight students will travel to the Dominican Republic November 20-25 as part of an online service-learning course at IU East.
Students have been creating unique ceramic bowls by the dozens in the studio at Indiana University East.
Hour by hour, over 200 pottery pieces have been thrown on the pottery wheel, fired, glazed and fired again.
IU East’s Student Activities and Events Center Groundbreaking Ceremony celebrates campus’ fifth buildingTuesday, November 11th
Indiana University and Indiana University East today broke ground on the campus’ fifth building, a Student Activities and Events Center that is expected for completion in 2016.
The Students Activities and Events Center Groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by the IU Board of Trustees, IU President Michael McRobbie and IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe. Also during the ceremony, remarks were provided by Angela Dickman, chair of the IU East Board of Advisors, and IU East Student Government Association President Emily O’Brien. Dickman was joined at the podium by Felicia Quigg, both served as co-chairs of the Bold Aspirations Campaign Committee along with Bill Quigg and Daniel Dickman.
Indiana University East will present Alice Driver from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, September 22, in the Whitewater Hall Community Room. Driver, a photojournalist in Mexico, will present on her upcoming book More or Less Dead. She will also talk about her work as a photographer and as a documentary filmmaker. Her documentary film is If Images Could Fill Our Empty Spaces.
Indiana University East students who studied abroad in Argentina this past May as part of a civilization and culture online course will exhibit their projects at the university’s Room 912, located at 912 E. Main Street in Richmond, Ind. The exhibit will be on display from September 13 to October 15 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Indiana University East awarded six scholarships for the 2014 Summer Research Scholar Program. Undergraduate students receive $2,000 to conduct a research project under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
Funding for the competitive program is provided by the Indiana University Office of the Vice Provost for Research and is matched by funds from IU East. All recipients will present their research findings during the seventh annual Student Research Day in spring 2015.
