IU East again shows growth in credit hours for spring 2014

This spring, Indiana University East is continuing to see enrollment increases over last spring across key areas including credit hours taken, new transfer students, transfers from Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond, new first-year students, and online courses enrollments. This represents the 18th consecutive term (including summers) with growth in campus credit hours over the previous year.

Indiana University East shared its community-focused projects in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge Inaugural Report published by the U.S. Department of Education. The report highlights participating institutions’ activities as part of President Barack Obama’s national initiative that began in 2011 with the goal of providing or expanding opportunities for students to participate in community service with a component of interfaith engagement.InterfaithChallenge

Chair of Mathematics Department participates on online education panel discussionMarkusPomper1
Markus Pomper, chair of the Department of Mathematics, was invited to be a panelist at a podium discussion at the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). The meeting was held on October 26 in Evansville, Ind. The panelists explored topics ranging from the challenges to teaching online classes in Mathematics, overcoming student problems, and instructional techniques.

Indiana University East is planning several events in Richmond’s Historic Depot District during its 2013 Homecoming week, October 21-26.HomecomingDepot

“Everyone is really looking forward to all the great Homecoming events and activities on and off campus,” said Director of Gift Development Stephanie Hays-Mussoni. “The events in the Depot will be a great way to include the community in IU East Homecoming traditions. Students, faculty and staff are also excited to spend more time in the Depot District which is quickly becoming a regular gathering place for IU East students. The Depot merchants have been tremendous partners in all of these activities and we look forward to many more opportunities to bring community and campus together.”
