IU East announces spring 2012 Dean’s List

Indiana University East students who take 12 or more credit hours and complete the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale are named to the Indiana University East Dean’s List. The following is the spring 2012 Dean’s List. The list is sorted by the student’s listed hometown.

IU East School of Nursing pinning ceremony is May 11

Wednesday, May 2nd

The pinning ceremony for Indiana University East nursing graduates on Friday, May 11, begins at 2:30 p.m. with a slide show followed by the ceremony at 3 p.m. The annual ceremony for nursing students will be held at the Central United Methodist Church, located at 1425 E. Main Street in Richmond.

IU East SIFE team wins Regional Championship

Friday, April 13th

The Indiana University East Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team won a regional championship in its league during the SIFE United States Regional Competition Exposition held April 10 in Cincinnati.f

IU East students on the team are James Healton and Shawna Sparks, both of Centerville, Ind., Ryan Doughty of Richmond, Nick Miller of Winchester, Brittany Hostetler of Camden, Ohio, and Rick McKinney and Megan Winn, both of Eaton, Ohio.

IU East students to attend statewide Preserving Historic Places Conference

Two Indiana University East students received full scholarships to attend the Preserving Historic Places statewide conference April 11-13 in Whiting, Ind. The Preserving Historic Places: Indiana’s Statewide Preservation Conference is sponsored by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archeology, Indiana University and Indiana Landmarks.

IU East to participate in statewide tornado drills

Friday, March 16th

Indiana University East will participate in a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 21, as part of Indiana’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 18 to 24.

During “Operation Stormy Weather” all Indiana University campuses will activate a Tornado Warning Test Drill using IU-Notify, the university’s emergency notification system, between 10 and 10:30 a.m. for the first test and between 7:30 and 8 p.m. for the second, both coinciding with the statewide drill. Test messages will be sent to IU East faculty, staff and students via email, text message (SMS), social media, digital signage, campus cable TV and website updates.

ALL-AMERICANS: Isaac named to first team, Trimnell earns honorable mention

The Red Wolves’ shooting stars are All-Americans.

Indiana University East junior gaurd Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) is a first-team NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American, and sophomore guard Matt Trimnell (Seymour, Ind./Seymour High School) is an honorable mention All-American.

IU East Red Wolves returning to NAIA Division II national tournament

The Red Wolves are headed back to the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship.

The Indiana University East men’s basketball team will face No. 15 seed Warner (Fla.) University on March 8 in the first round of the 32-team event in Point Lookout, Mo. First-round games are March 7 and 8 at the College of the Ozarks’ Keeter Gymnasium. The Red Wolves (24-7) and the Royals (23-10) tip off at 2:45 p.m. IU East time on Thursday, March 8.

FAFSA deadline is March 10

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application priority deadline is Saturday, March 10. By completing the FAFSA, applicants will automatically be considered for most federal and state grants, federal loans, and federal work-study, for the 2012-2013 academic year.
