Women and Minority Business Enterprises certification workshop
Indiana University East welcomes minority and women business owners in the Richmond area or surrounding counties to campus for a resource workshop. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, October 9, in the Community Room, located in Whitewater Hall. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.

IU East School of Education offers credential in Online Instruction beginning this January

Indiana University East’s School of Education will offer a credit-based credential in Online Instruction and Assessment (SCOIA) beginning this spring. The specialized credential has been developed for K-12 grade teachers, post-secondary teachers, private and governmental organizational operations, non-profit organizations, and training for businesses. This credit-based credential complements IU East’s non-credit-based certificate in online teaching that is designed for college and university instructors.

IU East’s Center for Teaching and Learning to offer certificate in online teaching for college faculty, graduate students

Indiana University East’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will offer a Certificate in Online Teaching, the first session to begin January 7, 2013.

Trudi Weyermann, dean of Distance Education and associate vice chancellor for Teaching and Learning, said the certificate is the next logical step for IU East because the university currently offers nine online degree completion programs with over 400 online courses, about 150 taught every semester.

U.S. News & World Report ranks IU East 56th most connected college or university in the nation, tops in Indiana

A recent report released by U.S. News & World Report ranks Indiana University East as the 56th most connected four-year campus in the United States, the highest among all Indiana institutions based on internet speed, internet access, applications, and resources. The U.S. News Most Connected Colleges report measures schools’ effectiveness in providing online services, including online courses, student technology and social networking.

IU East to implement bachelor’s degree in informatics

Indiana University East will initiate a new four-year degree program in the fall 2009 to provide students the necessary knowledge and skills for careers in information technology. The Bachelor of Science in Informatics degree program will provide students with technical and analytical skills that can be applied in a variety of industries, organizations and professions throughout the state of Indiana and beyond.

High speed fiber optics network connects higher education in East-Central Indiana

Colleges and universities in East Central Indiana now have significantly greater access to very high-speed networking for collaboration, research, and education thanks to the expansion of I-Light, Indiana’s statewide higher education optical fiber network. Indiana University East is the newest institution on the I-Light network, joined by Earlham College and Purdue University College of Technology. Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond will join the network later.
