Community Creative Writing Workshops available at IU East’s Room 912

Creative writing faculty from the Indiana University East School of Humanities and Social Sciences will host a series of writing workshops from 2-3:30 p.m. at IU East’s Room 912, located at 912 E. Main St. in Richmond. Workshops will be held February 4, March 4 and April 1.

Histories and Memories national juried exhibit awards announced

Indiana University East Fine Arts program is hosting its third national juried exhibition, themed “Histories and Memories,” with the support of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Mindful Explorations. The exhibit is open now through March 3 in the Tom Thomas Gallery, located in Whitewater Hall and online at http://www.iue.edu/gallery/nje/memories/.

IU East professor is first to lead IUAA trip abroad

Professor of History Gene Cruz-Uribe will lead a trip, “Legends of the Nile,” to Egypt March 15-25, 2017. The trip is offered through the Indiana University Alumni Association’s (IUAA) Travel IU program. Cruz-Uribe, an Egyptologist, is the first IU East faculty member to serve as a travel director for a trip abroad with the IUAA.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day at IU East to focus on Moving the Dream Forward

Indiana University East’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is on Tuesday, January 17. The day will feature keynote speaker Shawn Harper at 4 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall. Refreshments will be served in Whitewater Hall Lobby prior to Harper’s speech at 3:30 p.m. Free shirts will be provided to guests.

IU East Year in Review

IU East opened the Student Events and Activities Center this fall. It is the fifth building on campus.

For Indiana University East the past year has brought many celebrations, accomplishments and memorable moments. The campus experienced a record number of graduates who joined an alumni family now numbering over 9,000, celebrated the grand opening of the Student Events and Activities Center, and remembered the legacy of Chancellor Emeritus David Fulton who passed away.
