Indiana University East is well on its way to naming a new chancellor. Finalists for the position will visit the Richmond campus this month to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. Following those visits, the next step will be for the university search committee that identified the finalists to meet again and make further recommendations to President Michael McRobbie. McRobbie will make the selection subject to approval by the IU Board of Trustees.
Indiana University East has achieved a record high in total credit hours taught, surpassing the previous mark set in 2003.
The campus has increased the number of credit hours taught by 8.6 percent compared to the same period last year. There are 2,447 students enrolled for the fall semester, representing an increase of 8 percent. Enrollment has grown in all of IU East’s academic schools.
Alumni Board appoints new members
Seven new members have joined the Indiana University East Alumni Association Board of Directors. The board serves to advocate for IU East and assists with events and programs that connect IU East alumni with one other and their alma mater.
It breathes. It talks. It does everything a human being can do but more importantly, the Nursing Kelly manikin simulator is teaching students in the Indiana University East School of Nursing program how to deal with and treat real-life situations.
Indiana University East’s annual Moving On program for area youth will be held from Sunday, July 27 to Friday, August 8. Moving On is in its 18th year of providing a two-week summer academic and personal enrichment camp for Richmond youth.
Jon Hughes is a journalist, author, playwright and self-taught photojournalist. “The City at Night” is currently on exhibit at the Indiana University East Meijer Artway in Whitewater Hall until August 22.
Indiana University East is pursing the implementation of a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies. The degree was approved by the Indiana University Board of Trustees Friday, June 20.
The degree program must next be approved by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
RICHMOND, Ind. — Several area high school students involved in the Indiana University East Advancing Entrepreneurship Business Opportunities for Self Starters (BOSS) program participated in the regional competition Tuesday, June 24. The competition was held at the Richmond Civic Arts Center.
Director of Gift Development begins July 1
Indiana University East recently appointed Brindy Roosa as the director of gift development. Her official start date is July 1, 2008.
As a part of her duties, Roosa will be responsible for planning and implementing IU East’s overall gift development program and will work to strategically align the university’s needs with the interests and resources of alumni and friends.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Indiana Commission for Higher Education today approved Indiana University East’s Master of Social Work degree. The commission’s approval is the final step in the process to implement the graduate program proposal. The decision was announced during the commission’s meeting held at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
