Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels proclaimed today as BOSS Day. A proclamation by the governor’s office was read during the Entrepreneurship Business Opportunities for Self Starters (BOSS) program competition for high school students. Students presented their business plans in the competition. BOSS is a program in the Center for Entrepreneurship that provides high school students with the opportunity to build business knowledge, apply their research and to strengthen their networking opportunities.

BOSS began in June 2007 as a 24-month program but was extended to 36 months. The program has reached nearly 600 students and trained 25 teachers in the fundamentals of economics and entrepreneurship. BOSS reached out to students and teachers in nine counties, six states and two foreign countries. As a result, seven students have opened businesses and one student has a patent pending.
