IU East announces new director of Human Resources

Indiana University East will soon welcome a new director of Human Resources. Evelyn Gordon will begin in the role September 12. Gordon is a resident of Beavercreek, Ohio.

As director, Gordon will oversee the planning, implementing, directing and administering of all aspects of human resources. IU East’s director of Human Resources is responsible for providing campus leadership, strategic direction and vision in all areas of human resources including overseeing staff, employee relations, policies, procedures, practices and programs.

Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe said Gordon will be a good fit for the campus.

“Evelyn is an experienced administrator in Human Resources operations including employee management and performance, benefits and wellness programs and meeting state and federal regulations. We look forward to working with Evelyn and welcome her to IU East,” Cruz-Uribe said.

Before joining IU East, Gordon was an interim director of Human Resources and Deputy Title IX coordinator at Central State University, located in Wilberforce, Ohio. She began at Central State in 2005 as an administrative assistant in the Human Resources office. Gordon also served as an analyst and manager for the Human Resources office.

“Over the course of my career, I have developed a passion for working in higher education,” Gordon said. “The work that I do as a Human Resources professional in higher ed supports professionals who are passionate about student learning and success. For this reason, I am thrilled and honored to accept the position of director of Human Resources for Indiana University East. I look forward to making a positive and lasting contribution to this illustrious institution.”

Gordon received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Industrial/Organizational Emphasis from Oakwood University, located in Huntsville, Ala. She earned her Master of Education: Administrative Specialist in Higher Education from Central State University.

Gordon is certified from the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP).
