Indiana University East has several new full-time faculty members on staff this fall. The additional faculty will further enhance the campus’ mission as a comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s degree institution.

“IU East continues to grow and, to accommodate the growth, has added more full-time faculty over the past two years,” says Larry Richards, executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at IU East. “We expect the trend to continue and to add even more full-time faculty positions in the years to come.”

IU East is pleased to welcome its newest faculty listed below under the school or area in which they teach.

Campus Library
Frances Yates, director and associate librarian for the Campus Library, received her MLS in Library and Information Science from Indiana University. She is a specialist in library and information science/education, also received from IU. She previously worked at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in a variety of positions including curriculum and technology coordinator, Instructional Materials Center managing librarian, outreach librarian, and education librarian.

School of Business and Economics
Oi Lin Cheung, assistant professor of finance, received her Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans. She was previously a visiting assistant professor at Arizona State University West Campus in Glendale, Ariz.
Anita Morgan, assistant professor of business administration, is completing her Ph.D. in Accounting at Nova Southeastern University. She previously worked as the program chair of accounting at the Colorado Technical University Online.

John Stager, assistant professor of business administration and informatics, received his Ph.D. in Management of Information Systems and Technology from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, Calif. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., and at Chapman University in Orange, Calif.

School of Education
Denice Williams, visiting lecturer in reading education, received her Master of Science in Education from IU East, Richmond in 2009. She was previously the primary literacy interventionist for the Richmond Community Schools.

School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Ann Kim, visiting assistant professor of fine arts, received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Mills College in Oakland, Calif.  She previously taught at the Santa Rosa Junior College and was the Artist-in-Residence at Art Farm in Marquette, Neb.

Natalia Rybas, assistant professor of communication studies, received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was previously an assistant professor at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.

Daron Olson, assistant professor of history, received his Ph.D. in Historical Studies from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. He was previously a lecturer at Southern Illinois University and an instructor/associate instructor at the University of California Davis in Davis, Calif.

Ed Thornburg, art gallery director and lecturer, received his Master of Science in Education from Ball State University. He was previously part-time gallery director and adjunct instructor at IU East.

School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Gary Breitenbach, visiting lecturer in biology, completed all but his doctoral dissertation in Biology from UCLA. He was previously an adjunct lecturer at IU East.

Ron Itnyre, visiting lecturer in biology, received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was previously an adjunct lecturer at IU East.
