IU East launching community-wide “Save My Seat” program for Student Events Center

August 7, 2013 |

Indiana University East is nearly to its goal of raising $1.7 million philanthropically for the $4.7 million Student Events Center, a multi-purpose addition to Springwood Hall. IU East has committed $3 million to the project from savings and efficiencies created over the past few years.StudentEventsCenter

This week, IU East will launch the “Save My Seat” recognition program in which anyone may save their seat in the Student Events Center for a gift of $500 payable all at once or over five years. Participants in the “Save My Seat” program will be recognized in the new Student Events Center with their name added to the wall in the mezzanine floor. Seats may also be purchased in memory or honor of friends, family or organizations.

IU East launched its public campaign, “Bold Aspirations: The Campaign for the Student Events Center,” in October 2012 to raise the remaining money needed for the $4.7 million project.  The facility will promote student success through a comprehensive offering of co-curricular opportunities.

“Because this will be such a high-visibility venue, we wanted to provide a meaningful recognition opportunity for the many alumni, faculty, staff and community members who are making the Student Events Center a reality through their generosity,” Stephanie Hays-Mussoni, director of Gift Development, said. “This is a great way for the community to support our students and help us reach the finish line of the campaign by the start of fall semester later this month.”

The Student Events Center will be the home of the Red Wolves and for all students on campus. The center will host a variety of events and programs throughout the year.  In addition to athletics, the facility will be used for academic offerings, recreation, student life, cultural programs, and a wide range of special events.  Since 2007, student enrollment at IU East has increased by 85 percent.
