IU East Spring Lecture Series
The schedule for the Spring Faculty Lecture will continue with a presentation by Margaret Thomas Evans, senior lecturer of English, on Tuesday, April 7. The presentation, “Available Means in the Cyber Age: Women’s Organization Websites,” will be held at 10 a.m. in Whitewater Hall, room 132, with coffee and scones preceding the lecture. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The faculty members presenting in this series each received a Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2008. The fellowship is awarded to faculty in support of research or creative activities conducted during the summer, with the intent to stimulate further development of important research and scholarly endeavors.  For more information, contact Jean Harper, assistant professor of English, at (765) 973-8571.

IU East names new assistant director of Financial Aid
Sarah Soper of Richmond has been appointed as the assistant director in the Office of Financial Aid at Indiana University East. Soper was formerly a financial aid advisor at Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond and was a senior assistant director for Recruitment Strategies and Training at Indiana University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Indiana University.

IU East police officer promoted to sergeant
Jeff Locke has been promoted to sergeant in the Indiana University East Police Department. Locke is the second shift supervisor and act as the department’s second in command. He has been an officer at IU East since July of 2003. Prior to joining IU East, Locke was previously a security officer at Visteon. He also served as the Connersville Chief of Police and had been a veteran police officer with that police department.
