Director of Gift Development begins July 1

Indiana University East recently appointed Brindy Roosa as the director of gift development. Her official start date is July 1, 2008.

As a part of her duties, Roosa will be responsible for planning and implementing IU East’s overall gift development program and will work to strategically align the university’s needs with the interests and resources of alumni and friends.

A native of Richmond, Roosa was the corporate events director for the American Heart Association in Indianapolis. She also gained experience as the former director of annual giving for the Sacred Heart Children’s Foundation in Spokane, Wash. Roosa earned her Bachelor of Science in Administration from Indiana University.

Business professor presents session during national conference

David W. Frantz, dean of the IU East School of Business and Economics, presented a session on “Global Benchmarks — A Practitioner’s Experience” at the annual conference of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) held in New Orleans. The session, presented on June 22, explored the results of participation in a national pilot project on business program outcomes and how these might be applied to capstone courses. The ACBSP is an international organization that accredits business degree programs. IU East is an ACBSP accredited program. Frantz is also a member of the National Strategic Planning Committee for ACBSP, which conducted its meeting in conjunction with the conference.

IU East introduces new Assistant Director of Admissions

Indiana University East recently appointed Angela Napier as an assistant director in the Office of Admissions.

Napier recruits students to enroll at IU East, provide assistance to incoming students during the admissions process, lead campus tours and plan events for the Office of Admissions.

Prior to her appointment at IU East, Napier was the domestic coordinator for Communities United Partnership in Sierra Leone, Africa. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Minor in Gerontology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is a resident of Eaton, Ohio.

Students inducted into Business Honor Society

Eight Indiana University East students have been inducted into Delta Mu Delta, a Business Honor Society.

Juniors included Lisa A. Baker of Dunreith, Ind., Kyle J. Baumer of Centerville, Ind., Gregory James Morford of Cambridge City, Ind., and Candeda Lynn Reese of Richmond, Ind. Senior students inducted are Benjamin Lee Johnson of Connersville, Ind., Patrick Allen Krieg of Richmond, Ind., and Misty Nicole Rademachir of Arcanum, Ohio were also inducted.

Those from the community inducted as honorary members were Rudy Kunshek, assistant professor of accounting at IU East, and James William Dinkle, CEO of the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation.

At its meeting, the IU East Theta Chi Chapter of Delta Mu Delta elected Melinda Kennedy to serve as president of the organization, succeeding Jerry Winkler, a former IU East student. In addition to Kennedy, Lisa A. Baker was elected as vice president. Carol Dravk will serve as secretary and Adam Oda as treasurer.

David W. Frantz, dean for the School of Business and professor of management, and Tim Scales, business lecturer, serve as co-advisors for the honor society. Ashton Veramallay, Professor Emeritus and past regional representative for Delta Mu Delta, spoke to the group and congratulated the inductees on their achievements. Veramallay noted that Delta Mu Delta is the premier business honor society. In order to qualify for membership, students must be in the top 20 percent of the business administration program and also have a grade point average higher than 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
