For the second consecutive year, Indiana University East has received four awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V for excellence in fundraising, marketing, and alumni programs.

IU East received a Gold Award for Best New Alumni Program, a Silver Award in Excellence in Design and Bronze Awards for Best Program in Annual Giving and Excellence in Design in the annual Pride of CASE V Awards Program.

“I am very proud of the outstanding work that our team of professionals does to advance the mission of the campus,” said Rob Zinkan, vice chancellor for External Affairs.  “Their hard work, creativity, and dedication help to enhance the campus’ reputation, relationships, and resources.”

CASE is an international association of education advancement officers. CASE District V includes members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.  IU East will be presented with the awards during a luncheon at the district conference in Chicago on December 14.

The Office of External Affairs received a total of 18 regional, national, and international awards during 2009.

The Pride of CASE V Awards presented to IU East in 2010 include:

  • Gold Award for Best New Alumni Program – “Tonight’s Gonna be a Good Night,” Homecoming 2009

IU East’s 2009 Homecoming including the annual bonfire, Media Club talent show, crowning of the court and king and queen, Nearly Naked Mile, athletic events, and other activities for students and alumni.

Terry Wiesehan, director of Alumni Relations and Campus Events, said the traditions established at IU East through Homecoming are helping to build a more tightly knit group of students and alumni.

“Homecoming helps to build affinity among our alumni and students. As our classes graduate with their unique campus experiences, homecoming is becoming an integral part of a shared experience for the IU East family,” Wiesehan said.

  • Silver Award for Excellence in Design, Miscellaneous – “It’s Not Too Late” Variable Data Postcard

IU East connected with area high school students through a personalized postcard to let them know it wasn’t too late to complete and submit their application. The postcard featured personalized information for each student including their first name, mileage to campus from their hometown, name of high school and mascot, local newspaper, name of their admissions counselor at IU East, and current status of their admissions application. The postcard reinforced IU East’s brand message of “IU- focused on YOU.”

  • Bronze Award for Excellence in Design, Miscellaneous – Red Wolves t-shirt design

High school students visiting IU East receive a free t-shirt during student recruitment events. Red Wolves t-shirts are also given away to students, faculty, staff and the community during campus and athletic events. The design reflects the energy and excitement of IU East’s growing campus.

  • Bronze Award for Best Program in Annual Giving: “Seeing the Impact”

IU East’s 2010 Faculty/Staff Campus Campaign, “Seeing the Impact,” received generous participation from faculty and staff. Over the last two years, IU East faculty and staff have given $60,000 to support scholarships, academic schools, and other programs on campus, with nearly 100 percent of employees making an annual financial contribution.

Brindy Roosa, director of Gift Development, said the campus sees the impact their gifts make.

“Our faculty and staff are committed to our students. Their gifts provide scholarship support, innovative programs, exciting cultural and athletic events, and exceptional services to others,” Roosa said. “What a great statement this makes about the wonderful dedication that exists among the IU East family!”
