Indiana University East’s new coffee bar is now open in the Springwood Hall Graf Center Lounge. The grand opening for Brewfus was held September 4.

The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, students, faculty and staff were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony. IU East’s mascot, Rufus the Red Wolf, cut the ribbon.

Live music was provided by the electro-folk duo Augustine. Guests spun the Wolf Wheel for an opportunity to win a free drink, mug or other items.

This summer, IU East has worked to renovate the Graf Center Lounge for Brewfus to provide a welcoming environment for students to gather and to study. The Brewfus menu has an assortment of hot and cold beverages including fresh brewed coffee, lattes, espresso, mochas, hot chocolate, teas, steamed milk, and smoothie drinks. The coffee bar will also provide a selection of hot and cold foods to eat in the Graf or while on the go.

Rebeckah Hester, director of the Office of Campus Life, said, “As the student population continues to increase, updates and improvements to the Graf are always at the front of my mind. I am pleased with the splash of color to the Graf walls that was added this summer. Now with the addition of Brewfus, I know that our students will enjoy hanging out between classes in the Graf in this welcoming environment.”

Fall enrollment at IU East has reached a record level with 4,186 students – a 12.4 percent increase from last fall and an 85 percent increase since fall 2007.

Brewfus will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays, and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

Brewfus is operated by IU East Office of Food Services which also oversees the campus restaurant, The Den.
