New emergency notification system in place at IU East

IU-Notify, a new emergency communications system, has been implemented at Indiana University East. The system allows IU East to quickly notify students, faculty, and staff of a campus emergency – such as cancellation of classes due to a snowstorm or a potentially dangerous situation on campus – through voice, e-mail, and text messages.

As a result, the university is strongly encouraging students, faculty, and staff to update their contact information using a self-service tool easily accessible through OneStart.

By logging into the OneStart portal at www.iue.edu/onestart, choosing the notifications tab, and following the provided links, students, faculty, and staff can update – whenever necessary – contact information. This includes office, home, and cell phone numbers, as well as non-university e-mail addresses.

“Through IU-Notify, we can provide a new level of safety for our campus community,” said IU East Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar. “It is imperative that all of our faculty, staff, and students sign up to maximize the effectiveness of the system.”

IU-Notify is part of a larger project – across all IU campuses – designed to consolidate the university’s communications systems and greatly enhance its ability to effectively transmit emergency information.
