At Indiana University East, outstanding undergraduate academic achievement is recognized by naming students who take 12 or more credit hours and complete the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale to the Dean’s List.
This week, Indiana University East began renovation of Whitewater Hall Lobby. Work on the project began May 30 and is expected to be completed by September 8.
Local company Whisenhunt Construction, Inc., is the project’s general contractor. The renovation will enhance the space and improve the lobby’s energy efficiency and technology.
This year’s speaker for the ATHENA Leadership Award® Dinner will be Karen Freeman-Wilson, mayor of the City of Gary.
Wayne Bank and Indiana University East will host the dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Forest Hills Country Club, located at 2169 South 23rd St. in Richmond, Ind. The event recognizes women leaders who motivate, inspire and create positive change in the community.
The Class of 2017 will receive 876 diplomas during Indiana University East’s 46th Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. today (May 12) at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
Of the degrees being conferred, 811 are bachelor’s degrees and 65 are master’s degrees. The number of degrees is a significant increase for IU East and marks the university’s highest number of graduates in a given year. IU East will also present its 10,000th diploma during the ceremony.
The Recognition Ceremony for Indiana University East nursing graduates will be held Friday, May 12, beginning at 2 p.m. with a slide show followed by the ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The annual Recognition Ceremony for nursing students will be held at the Ligthhouse Assembly of God, located at 2339 West Cart Road in Richmond.

A determination to improve his life and give back to others has propelled the graduating senior to complete his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the Indiana University East School of Nursing and Health Sciences this month.
Wayne Bank and Indiana University East have partnered for the fourth year to bring the ATHENA Leadership Award to Wayne County. The ATHENA Leadership award is presented to an individual who is honored for their professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
Indiana University East’s Run with the Wolves 5K Run/Walk is Saturday, July 15. Registration is now open.
Runners and walkers will join more than 400 other participants for this year’s event on the IU East campus and run the Red Wolves’ cross country course, located behind Hayes Hall. The event includes a free “Run with Rufus” 1K family run/walk.
