IU East announces new dean of students

Amy Jarecki is the new dean of students at Indiana University East. She will begin July 1, 2018.

As the dean of students, Jarecki will assist students in all aspects of their college careers, ensuring access to needed resources, and facilitating the resolution of challenges students may encounter, both academic and non-academic.

Faculty member receives Quality Matters Certification for education course

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Center for Teaching and Learning congratulates Jamie Buffington-Adams, assistant dean for the School of Education and assistant professor, for earning a Quality Matters Certification for her online course, Education of the Socially and Emotionally Disturbed (EDUC-K343). Her course is the first at Indiana University East to earn official Quality Matters certification.

Student Research Day awards announced

IU East student Jennie Newman answers questions during the Oral Presentations portion of Student Research Day held March 31.

Student Research Day featured the work of 17 students at Indiana University East on March 31. The presentations included independent scholarship from courses, independent studies, summer research programs, Honors Program projects and creative endeavors.

IU McKinney Partnerships Create Indiana University Regional Law Scholars Program

Richmond, Ind. – The Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law has entered into an agreement with all five of IU’s regional campuses to create the Indiana University Regional Law Scholars program. Alumni of and current students at IU Northwest, South Bend, Kokomo, East, and Southeast are eligible to apply. The first students in the program will begin law school in fall 2016.

IU East announces new executive vice chancellor of Academic Affairs

Indiana University East will have a new executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs beginning July 1, 2016. Michelle Malott, Ph.D., has been named to the position and will serve as the chief academic and student affairs officer as well as the institution’s senior administrative officer.

IU East 2015 Summer Research Scholars announced

Indiana University East awarded six scholarships for the 2015 Summer Research Scholar Program. Undergraduate students receive $2,000 to conduct a research project under the supervision of a faculty mentor.

IU East announces new associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs

Ross Alexander is the new associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at Indiana University East. Alexander joined the campus January 3, 2012.

As the associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, Alexander will provide oversight and coordination of academic accreditations, community college articulations, assessment of student learning outcomes, new academic program development, compliance and disclosure issues, and campus data analysis and reporting.
