The Indiana University East Alumni Association invites alumni back to campus for a fun and innovative event, “Reconnect 2012,” from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, in the Graf Center in Springwood Hall.
Steele’s presentation, “How diversity and challenges make us stronger and with our own foundational standards, we can make a difference and succeed,” is the keynote address for the celebration to be held Wednesday, January 11, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.
Governor Daniels praises the campus’ innovative leadership
Indiana University East has shared four decades of its history with the campus and community during its 40th Anniversary celebration. The campus kicked off the anniversary during its 40th Commencement Ceremony in May and has hosted celebration events throughout the fall semester.
Indiana University East will celebrate “Homecoming 2011: Wild Night” the week of November 12-18. The campus is celebrating its 40th anniversary this fall, and Homecoming features several events that have an early 1970s influence. The theme is based on the song written and released by Van Morrison in 1971 and more recently covered by John Mellancamp.
Registration is now open for this year’s Run with the Wolves 5K on July 16, 2011, at Indiana University East.
Indiana University East will kick off its 40th anniversary celebration with the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 13. The campus will continue the celebration throughout the fall, concluding with Homecoming Week in November.
The Indiana University East Alumni Association and the Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IU Alumni Association will co-host a Friday legislative forum once a month now through April, allowing the community an in-person discussion with state legislators who represent Wayne County.
Raymond C. Kelley is the recipient of the Indiana University East 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award. Kelley will receive the honorary award during the IU East commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 14. The ceremony is being held at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
The Indiana University East Alumni Association would like to invite members of the community and other interested individuals to submit nominations for the 2010 Indiana University East Distinguished Alumni Award.
The IU East Distinguished Alumni Award provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding Indiana University East alumni who have distinguished themselves through personal and professional accomplishments, community service, involvement with the university, and involvement with the Alumni Association.
As an alumnus of Indiana University East, Rev. Mark Wesler has volunteered his time on the alumni board of directors and provided the invocation at commencement, celebrating with each new class as they graduated. Even though he has since moved away from Richmond, Wesler continues to visit the campus and is involved in alumni activities.
