Faculty member, oncologist research how Complementary and Alternative Medicines are a tool in the arsenal to fight disease

When Ange Cooksey was diagnosed with cancer in December 2014, she turned to yoga to help deal with the side effects and stress of treatment. Cooksey had been practicing yoga for 40 years, including as part of her treatment regimen for her Type One Diabetes. Today, yoga has an even greater purpose in her academic research and her life.

The first class of IU East Faculty Fellows have been chosen for the Center for Service-Learning program, a new incentive created as a part of the Building a Service-Engagement Infrastructure grant. These faculty members will develop and deploy their service-learning course plans during the summer and fall.

IU East faculty member receives award for outstanding community engagement

Ange Cooksey, humanities lecturer at Indiana University East, has received the Brian Douglas Hiltunen Award from Indiana Campus Compact. Cooksey was presented the award on Tuesday, March 25 at the 2008 Governor’s Conference on Service and Volunteerism.
