KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Indiana University East is one of 168 colleges and universities that will be recognized with an NAIA Champions of Character Five Star Award for the 2013-14 school year, the NAIA announced this fall.
“We welcome Joe to Red Wolf Nation,” said IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe. “Joe has a proven track record of success and growth at an NAIA institution. We are pleased to have someone with Joe’s level of expertise in so many areas leading our team at IU East as we continue the growth of our athletics program.”
IU East’s Red Wolves are traveling across the Midwest and to the East Coast to compete in two national tournaments and regular season road games. The three teams will travel to Iowa, Kansas, Pennsylvania and New York.
Indiana University East is nearly to its goal of raising $1.7 million philanthropically for the $4.7 million Student Events Center, a multi-purpose addition to Springwood Hall. IU East has committed $3 million to the project from savings and efficiencies created over the past few years.
Indiana University East’s Run with the Wolves 5K Run/Walk is coming up soon. Registration is open for this year’s Run with the Wolves 5K on Saturday, July 27, at Indiana University East.
The Indiana University East Faculty Senate during its Feb. 5 meeting approved a resolution to add a women’s basketball program.
The Red Wolves’ shooting stars are All-Americans.
Indiana University East junior gaurd Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) is a first-team NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American, and sophomore guard Matt Trimnell (Seymour, Ind./Seymour High School) is an honorable mention All-American.
The match will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center. The Lions are 27-8 and ranked 25th in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Indiana University East will offer two new minor degree programs beginning this fall. The Minor in Sports Coaching and the Minor in Sports Marketing and Management will be open to all students pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
