Indiana University East’s spring enrollment has reached an all-time high this semester. For the second consecutive semester, the campus has experienced substantial overall growth in its enrollment and the largest growth among all IU campuses.
Indiana University East has improved in several areas based on the input of 223 randomly selected first-year and senior students who completed the National Survey of Student Engagement and Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) conducted in spring 2008. Results were recently released to IU East.
Bear Creek Coffee has established itself as the campus coffeehouse at Indiana University East. Since officially opening its campus location in the fall, in the Graf Center of Springwood Hall, the lounge has been a central gathering space for students to study and play and faculty and staff to meet.

RICHMOND, Ind. — Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie today (Oct. 31) announced the appointment of Nasser H. Paydar as chancellor of Indiana University East, effective Jan. 1, 2009, subject to the approval of the IU Board of Trustees at their December meeting.
Indiana University East is well on its way to naming a new chancellor. Finalists for the position will visit the Richmond campus this month to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. Following those visits, the next step will be for the university search committee that identified the finalists to meet again and make further recommendations to President Michael McRobbie. McRobbie will make the selection subject to approval by the IU Board of Trustees.
Indiana University East will unveil its new mascot at 11:30 a.m. in the Whitewater Hall lobby on Wednesday, April 30. The event is open to the community and will be broadcast live by WCTV.
Illusionist and magician Cliff Hopkins is magical, mysterious and fascinating to watch. Hopkins will visit Indiana University East for the final 2008 Lively Arts Series performance held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 in Vivian Auditorium.
Each Tuesday from March 25 to April 8, students and the community are welcome to attend several events on campus to learn more about the 2008 election, its candidates and how each person can be involved in local governments.
The Indiana University East art gallery will celebrate Women’s History Month with the 2008 Invitational “From Women’s Hands” exhibit. This exhibit, on display today through April 5, 2008, features some of the most successful female artists in eastern Indiana.
Indiana University East is renaming its academic divisions beginning July 1, 2008. Academic divisions at IU East will become the School of Business and Economics, School of Education, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Natural Science and Mathematics, and School of Nursing.
