For Indiana University East the past year has brought many celebrations, accomplishments and memorable moments. The campus experienced a record number of graduates who joined an alumni family now numbering over 9,000, celebrated the grand opening of the Student Events and Activities Center, and remembered the legacy of Chancellor Emeritus David Fulton who passed away.
Indiana University East will award an Indiana University Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to former Indiana State Senator Allen E. Paul and to former Indiana State Representative Richard “Dick” Bodiker during its Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight (May 13) at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
The Recognition Ceremony for Indiana University East nursing graduates will be held Friday, May 13, beginning at 2 p.m. with a slide show followed by the ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The annual Recognition Ceremony for nursing students will be held at the Ligthhouse Assembly of God, located at 2339 West Cart Road in Richmond.
Kathryn Marr of Nashville Tenn., is the student speaker for the Indiana University East 44th Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will be held tonight (May 15) at 6 p.m. at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.

This year, the university will confer 532 baccalaureate degrees and 28 master’s degrees. The awarding of the degrees is a significant increase for IU East and this year marks the most awarded in the school’s history. In 2012, IU East awarded 445 baccalaureate degrees and 16 master’s degrees. Additionally, the first cohort of students in the Master of Science in Management will have degrees conferred during the ceremony.
